The first crib we delivered was to the Orleans, Hotel and Casino. We were obviously still in the learning stage.

Right outside the registration area at the Orleans is a place to park. So far it has been the only casino property in Vegas like that.

This would be our first time to use the bell service to deliver the equipment to the rooms. After we parked, we flagged a bellman and told him where we needed the equipment taken. He informed us, at the Orleans, you have to be in the room and place the call to the bell and then they will bring your delivery up.

The client had already checked in. Their room was located in a tower that needed a floor key to go up in the elevator. We called the client met them at the elevator, and went up to their room. In the room we called for the bell, to bring up the bed. We were anxious, so to us it seemed like an eternity, but it was really only a few minutes.

While we waited we had the chance to get to know our client. They were visiting from California for a bowling championship. Their daughter was a very cute, active 18 month old.

As soon as the bed arrived, we started putting it together. Somewhere, maybe in transport, a piece on it had broken. It was still functional but we didn’t want to trust it with their daughter. Embarrassed, we showed the client what was wrong and explained that we wanted to replace it.

So we quickly tore it down and instead of waiting for a bell to return, we carried it from the room, down a never ending hallway, on to the elevator, through the casino and finally to the car. By then our arms were shaking. We took the broken bed back to office and picked up another one before heading back to the Orleans.

Instead of waiting for the bell, we decided to carry it ourselves. Through the Casino...elevator...never ending hallway...and finally to the room.

We assembled the new bed and presented it like it was our first born. We were nervous but the clients were very gracious and thanked us for procuring a new one for them. They later sent us a nice e-mail. We'll look forward to seeing them again.
